 Why did we choose to start our Helpful Rewards program?

Why not just join the Ace Rewards program?

           Several years ago when this program was started (Helpful Hardware Club), I thought it was a good idea but it had some basic flaws that I could not live with.

            I hate telemarketing (phone calls during dinner).  I am on the do not call list and yet I still get calls all the time.  My sense is that you, my valued customers, do not like this either.  Ace has chosen to include automated telemarketing in selected markets and during selected promotions.

            I will never make a telemarketing call to your home!

            I am also a privacy nut.  The database in the Ace Rewards program is held at Ace Corp. headquarters in Oak Brooke IL.  Ownership of the database is with the Ace Corp offices.  Stores who are part of the Ace Rewards program may use the “data warehouse” to select and sort your private information for marketing purposes.  Ace Corp. may also use this same information for marketing purposes.  The database is very extensive and includes information that I believe is not necessary to the success of my business.

          I will retain sole control over your personal information and will limit this information to your name and address.  I have installed sophisticated firewall technology to protect this information.  I will never share this information with any others.  

            These are called Customer Loyalty programs.  They are meant to keep you coming back to the merchant as a “loyal” customer.

            Ace developed their program to build loyalty to Ace stores.

            Ace stores are owned by individual store owners and are not all the same.  They vary in size from full blown big boxes to the 20'x20' mom and pop corner store.
